Robert Vernon Klett
"Grandpa"
Growing up, he was the only father figure I
have known. He has left a foundation that has changed me for
life and will influence me wherever I go and whatever I do.
He was always there for me. February 9 1986
my brother, my uncle and myself were water baptized and he gave
me my first Bible. Three years later on October 8 1989 I was
confirmed and I celebrated my first partaking of the Lord’s
Supper and he was there. Taking me to Church every Sunday has
helped structure me into who I am today.
Eighth grade when I decided to run distance
he prodded me on even though I could barely run one lap. Now I
can still run three miles.
When I was in High school he helped when I
had drill meets and everything I did. He had a place to stay
when I needed one.
He also inspired me to join the Air Force.
This was one of the best moves in my life and something I pray I
finish out.
There were four I desired to succeed for and
yearned for them to be proud of me and what I have done. The
first is my God whom my grandfather has taught me to rely on at
all times. The second is my mother. The third is my aunt. And
the last was he. I am happy that he did say he was proud of me
before he died. I take that as an achievement.
He also taught me service with his life. He
provided service for his country. He provided service for our
God. In this he was more then just a hearer of the word but also
a doer. This is rare find for today.
I know he is standing with Jesus looking down
right now. 1 Corinthians 15:53; For this corruptible must put on
incorruption and this mortal must put on immorality.
I
miss him. I love him. And I can’t wait to see him again
